Alpha Progression Pro
Alpha Progression Pro is the paid feature tier of the Alpha Progression strength-training app. It adds automated programming, set-by-set progression guidance, advanced analysis, and additional training tools to the permanent free version. Pro is not required for basic workout logging, manual plan creation, or access to the built-in exercise library.
The free version remains ad-free and includes unlimited workout logging, manually created training plans, manually created standalone workouts, all 795 built-in exercises and their real demonstration videos, a rest timer, personal records, achievements, body measurements, plan and workout sharing, and CSV export. It can be used without an account. A Pro subscription therefore expands the app’s training support rather than merely removing ads or unlocking saved workouts.
The central Pro feature is the plan generator. It creates a personalized, editable plan from inputs including goal, experience, training frequency, desired workout duration, available equipment and weights, and muscle priorities. The result includes the training split, exercise selection and distribution, set counts, repetition ranges, and dropsets. RIR targets, periodization, and a deload can be included optionally. Pro can also generate an editable standalone workout. Its type and focus can be selected manually, or Alpha Progression can choose a suitable focus from recent training.
During training, Pro provides progression recommendations for individual working sets. Each recommendation specifies a weight and repetition target and can optionally include an RIR target. It uses prior performance, completed sets in the current workout, the planned set, and the weights available in the active gym profile. Recommendations can differ between sets, work across plans and standalone workouts, and adapt downward when performance is worse than expected. RIR tracking remains optional.
Other Pro features include charts for exercise performance, strength, volume, sets per muscle, training frequency, bodyweight, and body measurements; multiple gym profiles; optional RIR, periodization, and deload settings; a plate calculator; a customizable warm-up calculator; hypertrophy-focused exercise evaluations; and images for custom exercises.
Alpha Progression Pro can currently be purchased through the Alpha Progression website, Apple’s App Store, or Google Play as a monthly or yearly subscription. At standard US pricing, it costs $12.99 per month or $79.99 per year, although prices can vary by country, currency, platform, taxes, and promotions. Eligible new customers choosing the yearly plan currently receive a 14-day free trial; the monthly plan does not include that trial.
Canceling a subscription stops its renewal, while Pro remains available until the end of the paid period. After Pro expires, workouts from generated plans and generated standalone workouts can no longer be started. Workouts from manually created plans and manually created standalone workouts can still be started, but they start without Pro-only settings such as RIR or a deload. Additional gyms stay saved, although only the currently active gym can be used. The official Alpha Progression Pro page shows the current terms and Free-versus-Pro comparison.
