Gym profile

A gym profile in Alpha Progression is a saved configuration of the equipment and weight increments available at a particular training location. It tells the app what can actually be used in a commercial gym, home gym, hotel gym, or another setup. This is a product-specific meaning, not a public profile for a gym or a social-media account.

The profile's equipment selection determines which exercises are practical at that location. A fully equipped facility might include barbells, dumbbells, cables, plate-loaded machines, and selectorized machines, while a home setup may contain only adjustable dumbbells and a bench. Keeping these inventories separate avoids generating exercises that cannot be performed where the session takes place.

A profile can also store available weights and increments. This matters because a theoretical target such as 72.5 kg is not useful when the relevant machine moves only in 5 kg steps. The plan generator can use the profile when selecting exercises, and progression recommendations can round suggested loads to values that are actually selectable. The configured number is the displayed load; differences in machine mechanics mean that equal stack labels across two gyms are not necessarily equivalent resistance.

Separate profiles are useful when someone trains at more than one location. Before generating or starting a session, select the profile for the place where the workout will happen and update it when equipment changes. Exercise history should still be interpreted carefully after switching machines, because a familiar exercise name does not guarantee identical mechanics or loading.

Gym profiles are part of Alpha Progression Pro. Their practical role is to make generated plans and load suggestions fit the user's real environment, rather than treating every gym as if it had the same exercise selection and weight steps.
